The Attica, Kansas police department found this Renault Dauphine police cruiser perfectly suited to their needs as the department's only patrol car. Marshal Charles Sanford explained that catching speeders wasn't much of an issue. The county highway was the only paved road in town, and if someone passing though failed to heed the speed limit signs, they usually hit the brakes the moment the red light started flashing. Sanford also said he knew most of the residents, so if one of the locals was speeding, the he would just drive to their house and write them a ticket when they got home. He did chase a motorcycle through a field once. But the department decided they should focus on serving local residents rather than making money writing tickets out on the highway, so a big high-horsepower sedan would just have wasted money on gas and tires.

Hubbard's chief of police reported they purchased two new Renault LeCars for the price of one full-sized patrol car. They were also saving on fuel and were quite satisfied with the performance and handling.
